About Three Minute Books
We believe your time is valuable. Every day, thousands of books compete for your attention. Three Minute Books helps you cut through the noise with concise, honest summaries you can read in about three minutes.
Our Mission
Think of us as that well-read friend who always has a great recommendation. We distill the key themes, arguments, and takeaways of each book into a scannable, beautifully presented summary — so you can decide whether it's worth your time before committing to 300+ pages.
How We Write Summaries
Every summary follows a consistent structure designed for scannability:
- Hook — An attention-grabbing opening that captures the essence of the book
- What It's About — The core premise, themes, and what makes the book distinctive
- Key Takeaways — What you'll walk away with and why it matters
- The Verdict — A clear, honest recommendation
Our summaries are AI-assisted and human-reviewed. We use AI to help generate initial drafts efficiently, then review each summary for accuracy, tone, and quality. We're transparent about this because we believe the value is in the curation and editorial voice, not in pretending every word was hand-typed.
Our Verdicts
Each book receives one of four verdict badges:
- Highly Recommended — A must-read. We'd press this into your hands at a dinner party.
- Worth a Read — Solid and rewarding. You won't regret the time.
- Mixed — Has strengths, but also notable weaknesses. Right for some readers, not all.
- Skip It — We read it so you don't have to.
We don't shy away from honest takes. Not every book deserves praise, and readers trust us because we're not trying to sell them every title.
Who's Behind This
Three Minute Books is a project by Accrease, built by Jonas in Copenhagen, Denmark. It started as a simple question: "Is there a fast, trustworthy way to decide if a book is worth reading?" We couldn't find one we loved, so we built it.
